SOUTH AFRICAN INDEPENDENT PRODUCERS ORGANISATION

The Independent Producers Organisation is a representative, national organization of independent South African film, television, and digital producers, that was formed in 1996, constituted to represent, protect and promote the interests and needs of producers.

As a champion for the interests of film, TV, and digital media, the IPO regularly publicizes funding opportunities that seek to uplift the local film industry, ensuring an empowered, transformed, vibrant, and flourishing industry that maximizes its economic contribution.

Since its inception, Stage Five Films has been a part of the IPO. Stage Five Films’ Producer and Partner, Dylan Voogt comments on the impact the organization has had on the local industry:

“Producers of entertainment content and services in South Africa are vital as they create employment opportunities, allowing for increased economic activity and investment. They also serve in some part to reflect and preserve the local culture. In that, the IPO has contributed in a very positive way.

Serving on the IPO Exco was a proud moment. Seeing cooperation and striving for mutually benevolent goals in what is usually a very competitive environment was tough but inspiring.”
